We are seeking an experienced Online Surveyor to join our client's expanding offshore geophysical survey department. Based in Ireland, preferably on the East or West Coast, but location is flexible.

We are looking for someone with real experience of offshore surveying, particularly for offshore renewable projects. This is a unique opportunity to join a dynamic and fast-growing survey company with an extensive portfolio of offshore development works to service. 


Role Summary

Reporting to the Party Chief, this role is responsible for supporting the offshore survey teams to ensure operational success and delivering world class data to our existing client base. This is essentially an offshore based role on a rotational basis. You will be required to support the team with online hydrographic survey support, data QC and management of all relevant acquired survey data. You will be required to relish the challenge of working to deadlines, problem solving and to organise the survey priorities to ensure the delivery of the survey results as agreed in the project execution plan. 

You will be responsible for ensuring the survey is executed in a logical and efficient manner; review and check the survey setup; support each vessel mobilisation and, if necessary, assist with the preparation of reports and deliverables to client specifications. The ideal candidate will have experience in hydrographic surveying and have worked within the geophysical survey environment. The role is both challenging and rewarding in equal measure for someone with the right combination of skills and knowledge and will offer the successful candidate the opportunity to shine.


Key Responsibilities

  • Focus and attention to detail are essential to the role
  • Ensure survey specifications and scopes of work are covered
  • Ensure the vessel teams have all the necessary data and information
  • Ensure the project survey software is set up correctly
  • Competent with survey planning, GIS and knowledgeable with using Qinsy and CARIS HIPS/SIPS is desirable
  • Inform the Party Chief on survey problems and/or issues
  • Assist the team with project preparation, data processing and reporting
  • Remain up to date with industry techniques, hardware, software and processing techniques

Qualifications and Experience

  • HND or Degree qualification in a related discipline and/or professional accreditation or a comparable level of expertise
  • 2-5 years minimum experience in offshore geophysical survey works
  • Experience in the use of different software packages
  • Accurate and analytical approach to work
  • Confident with geodesy and survey datum transformation
  • Must hold a valid recognised and approved Offshore Survival and Medical certification.
  • Comprehensive working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications; Microsoft project experience preferable.


Knowledge and experience with the following software & survey systems: (not essential)

  • USBL systems. iXblue GAPS experience is desirable.
  • MBES systems Kongsberg Systems or equivalent. R2Sonic 2024 is desirable.
  • Survey management software. Familiarity with Qinsy is desirable.
  • Magnetometer systems Geometrics or equivalent.
  • UHR survey experience is desirable.
  • Sub Bottom Profilers, hull mounted and pole mounted. Familiarity with iXblue 3.5 T3 is desirable
  • Side Scan Sonar systems.
  • Familiarity with environmental and geotechnical data collection and processing.
