🌍 About the Role:

Are you passionate about understanding and protecting Ireland’s groundwater resources? Our client is looking for a skilled and enthusiastic Hydrogeologist to join their growing environmental team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with 3–5 years of professional experience who wants to take the next step in their hydrogeology career, contributing to impactful projects across Ireland — from renewable energy and infrastructure to land development and environmental protection.

In this role, you’ll work within a collaborative, multi-disciplinary team delivering high-quality environmental assessments, supporting sustainable water management, and ensuring compliance with Irish and EU environmental legislation.

đź’§ What You’ll Do:

  • Carry out groundwater monitoring, sampling, and field investigations across Ireland.
  • Prepare Hydrogeological Impact Assessments (HIAs) and contribute to Environmental Impact Assessment Reports (EIARs) and planning submissions.
  • Analyse and interpret groundwater and water quality data, producing clear, insightful technical reports and models.
  • Support aquifer vulnerability and groundwater protection assessments, using tools such as MODFLOW, GIS, and AquiferWin32.
  • Engage with regulatory authorities, including the EPA, GSI, and local councils.
  • Ensure projects comply with Water Framework Directive standards and Irish Groundwater Regulations.
  • Collaborate with planners and engineers to develop sustainable drainage and water management solutions.
  • Contribute to a range of projects — from renewable energy and infrastructure to extractives and urban development.

🎓 What You’ll Bring:

  • A BSc in Hydrogeology, Geology, Environmental Science, Earth Science, or related field (an MSc or postgraduate qualification is a strong advantage).
  • 3–5 years’ professional experience in hydrogeological assessment, ideally within the Irish environmental and planning framework.
  • Proven ability to prepare hydrogeological reports and assessments for planning and permitting.
  • Strong understanding of Irish environmental regulations, EPA guidance, and groundwater standards.
  • Competence with hydrogeological modelling and data analysis software (e.g., MODFLOW, GIS).
  • Excellent technical writing, communication, and data interpretation skills.
  • A full, clean Irish or EU driving licence.
  • Membership (or eligibility for membership) of professional bodies such as IGI, IAH, or IEMA is desirable.

🌱 Why Join:

  • Competitive salary commensurate with experience
  • Flexible and hybrid working arrangements
  • Private health insurance and employer pension contributions
  • Career growth supported through mentoring, CPD, and training
  • Comprehensive annual leave and wellbeing programme
  • Annual salary and performance reviews
  • Support for professional memberships and chartered membership
  • The opportunity to shape Ireland’s sustainable water future through diverse, meaningful projects
