PROJECT MANAGER – FABRIC MAINTENANCE (WIND ENERGY/RENEWABLE ENERGY)
Job Overview
Our client, a multi-national corporate company within the wind renewable sector has a requirement for a Project Manager (PM), office based in Hull, East Riding of Yorkshire, UK.
The new fabric maintenance division will be servicing onshore and offshore wind turbine generator (WTG) farms in the field of fabric maintenance of WTG structures and substations. Client UK growth within fabric maintenance is projected to be high, exponentially growing over the next 10+ years. Starting with the PM, a team will be built around him/her to handle the work volumes forecast.
Project Manager must be UK based and willing to travel to the Hull office once per week (where the PM’s work schedule allows) and possess a solid technical background within fabric maintenance. Preferred candidate will have wind industry background having held previous positions as high-level Supervisor or Project Manager previous, with a work history of hands-on site experience in fabric maintenance and coatings of steel structures.
As this challenging and exciting position will be the start of the new fabric maintenance division, career progression will be fast depending on the capability and performance of the PM in their role. Our client would like the PM to, within 12 months of starting, progress to the position of fabric maintenance division head (equal to Operations Manager level).
The PM will lead his/her team to project success, ensuring all HSSE requirements are met in the process. Expected to grow existing client revenue streams and pro-actively source new clientele, the manager will be forward-thinking and innovative in his/her business ideas. High workloads can be expected, especially during the start-up of the business unit.
Salary & Benefits
Annual salary – 55-70,000 GBP (range based on candidate skills & experience)
Incentive pay – rewarded for meeting company KPI targets & project bonus (performance driven)
Standard week – 37.5 hours
Over time – as required, OT rate applicable over 37.5hrs week
Start date - ASAP

Technical & business skills
1.Number of years’ experience - 5 years in PM or similar role and solid background of coatings and fabric maintenance
2. Must possess below capabilities or be a quick learner and competent to do so
Experiences of tendering Paint and Steel projects and be able to negotiate externally as well as internally
Ability to handle multiple projects and work independently
Excellent analytical, problem solving, self-management, and organizational skills
Well-developed oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills in order to effectively
Instruct employees
Proficient in using Microsoft Office package
Ability to influence individuals and teams in order to achieve set or desired goals and objectives
Theoretical and practical education within a paint and steel industry
Great knowledge of industry related specifications and standards
Ambitious, can-do, entrepreneur attitude is key to growing the business unit
3. Size and scope, budget responsibilities
Multiple projects ongoing up to £10m+ per single project
Project pipeline can be up to £50m+
Ability to manage 200 people from office staff to field technicians
Work to company KPI’s, achieving HSSE, project & business unit financial targets and profit margins of
7% minimum
Analyze project and revenue margins and implement operational changes to achieve margin, where required
4. UK working legislation, HSSE, BREXIT & COVID-19
Expected to satisfy all HSSE requirements within his/her teams
Have good UK HSSE knowledge of wind industry
Be aware of UK working regulations, especially IR35 for contractors coming into force Q2 2021
Make necessary arrangements and work with the HR team to overcome any issue regarding contractor employment
Follow UK government guidelines regarding BREXIT. Role out to team members as required
Act accordingly to government guidance on COVID-19.
Implementing and advising teams where necessary
5. Day to day duties
Handle multiple projects, coordinating with team supervisors on site
Process Daily Feedback Reports (DFR) from site supervisors. Pro-actively act upon site feedback for the smooth running of projects
Report directly to the company director on your departments progress, pipeline, strategy and vision on regular basis
Client and site meetings
Travel to site as required
Hold pre/post mobilisation meetings, as part of a lessons learnt and continuous improvement process
Attend to client requests
Be able to run a tender process from start to finish
Develop existing and new client business relationships to increase revenue streams
Flexible office days are permitted. Work from home if required
If possible, attend office 2-3 days per week. Job flexible and based around other workloads i.e. site visits
Build team and co-ordinate between yourself and office team, site personnel
Hold project kick-off and progress meetings
Liaise internally / externally for manpower requirements working with approved suppliers

Painter/Blaster/Coatings Inspector/NDT Technicians and similar previous experience all considered for this role. Must be strong at computer skills and have great natural inter-personal skills. Any training, degree or certifications in management will also be highly regarded.
