We are seeking a suitably qualified Marine Survey Engineer to join our client's dynamic geophysical department in an offshore capacity. Based in Ireland, location flexible. 

We are looking for someone with real experience of geophysical surveys, particularly for offshore renewable clients. The right candidate for this role will be entering the company at a very exciting time as the company continue to grow on a steep trajectory within the Renewable Energy Sector. 

Role preference is a full-time salaried position. Open to contractor based workings for the right candidate.


Role Summary

Reporting to the Party Chief / OPM, this is a senior role responsible for supporting the team to ensure operational success and delivering world class data to our existing client base. There will be both offshore and onshore elements to this role. You will be required to support geophysical surveys, including the vessel mobilisations, on-going survey operations and logistical support and in co-operation with the company's Geophysical Management and Operations team. 

You will be required to relish the challenge of working to deadlines, to problem solve, to organise the appropriate use of resources and spares with each vessel set-up and assist in the delivery the results as agreed in the project execution plan. You will be responsible for ensuring the vessel equipment is operating properly and be prepared for periods of equipment repair. Appropriate recording and reporting of information throughout the survey regarding equipment performance and clear communications and support with the onshore team 24/7.


Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for onboard equipment mobilisation to demobilisation of the survey campaign
  • Responsible for management and upkeep of geophysical equipment and associated elements
  • Supervise the setup, interfacing, testing, maintenance, calibration, and operation of acquisition sensors and monitor the data quality to ensure the survey specification is achieved
  • Prepare various reports including equipment damage / fault reports
  • Develop and maintain experience with acquisition systems and survey techniques
  • Implement and review Planned Maintenance Systems. Maintain and administer the inventory of equipment and consumables Ensure integrity and functionality of the acquisition sensors is maintained throughout the project.


Qualifications and Experience

  • HND or Degree qualification in relevant engineer related discipline preferred. 
  • 3 -5 years minimum experience in a similar offshore capacity. 
  • Experience in offshore renewable survey works preferable but not essential.
  • Must hold a valid recognised and approved Offshore Survival and Medical certification.


Knowledge and Experience with the following Software & Survey System: (not essential)

  • USBL systems. iXblue GAPS experience is desirable.
  • MBES systems Kongsberg Systems or equivalent. R2Sonic 2024 is desirable
  • Survey management software. Familiarity with Qinsy is desirable.
  • Magnetometer systems Geometrics or equivalent.
  • Sub Bottom Profilers, hull mounted and pole mounted. Familiarity with iXblue 3.5 T3 is desirable
  • Familiarity with UHRS systems including Sparker and Mini Air Gun sources with multi-channel Streamers is desired
  • Side Scan Sonar systems.
  • Familiarity with Environmental and geotechnical sampling techniques.
  • Familiarity with Environmental Camera systems, SeaSpy or equivalent is desirable.
