The ideal candidate will be a senior Project Manager or Business Development Manager with at least 8 years of experience developing renewable energy projects. You need to have a master’s degree in business administration with a proven track record of successfully developing and executing profitable business strategies that guarantee scalability. You need to have experience in successful deal structuring, negotiation and closing and be an inspirational leader and manager of cross-functional teams that thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. This role is ideal for someone who has excellent leadership skills with the ability to skilfully engage and grow valuable stakeholder relationships.

As the Country Manager, you will be responsible for developing a strategic business plan and budget that meets the development demands of the target market. You will continuously drive the completion of strategic milestones that will advance projects through the various stages of development and manage all aspects of the solar project including offtake agreements, permitting, stakeholder management, and all related budgets. You will manage cross-functional teams and ensure that each department is competent and equipped to perform excellently in the execution of their tasks so that projects reach timely completion.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Master’s degree in business administration (MBA) or
  • MSc in electrical engineering or environmental studies

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • 8 - 10 years of work experience in the renewable energy sector as a Project and/or Business Development Manager
  • A proven track record of developing and executing successful and profitable business strategies that guarantee scalability
  • Experience in successfully managing and leading cross-functional teams in all departments
  • Ability to act as the public speaker and public relations representative of the company
  • Experience in securing and managing valuable stakeholder partnerships
  • Experience in deal structuring, negotiation and closing such as Joint Venture agreements, development agreements, and shareholder agreements
  • RESPONSIBILITIES

    Responsibilities include developing a strategic plan and budget needs for development in the target market, continuously driving the completion of strategic milestones that will advance a project through the various stages of development, advancing and managing the existing or new downstream solar projects including offtake, permitting, interconnection, land, community relations, stakeholder management, and all related budgets. The Country Manager will lead all development efforts for greenfield, co-development, and project acquisitions within targeted markets and sectors. They will also manage cross-functional teams including legal, financial, project management, and asset management resources to analyse and close transactions aligned with department goals, preparing and negotiating agreements such as JV agreements, development agreements, and shareholder agreements. The Country Manager will identify and develop partner relations with project developers, financial institutions, investors, contractors, lawyers, consultants, authorities, grid operators, advisors, manufacturers, and other market participants to manage a successful project pipeline. Other responsibilities include managing all aspects of project development and acquisition, making sure that the team can identify and secure suitable project sites, performing cost/feasibility analysis, pricing analysis, contract, and concession agreement negotiations, negotiating land leases and easements, managing landowner relationships, and collaborating closely with the internal support team. Finally, the Country Manager will identify, manage, and secure interconnection agreements while leading the overall interconnection strategy for a specific project or market area.
