This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and innovative individual with a solid background in acoustics to join a leading firm that is seeking a Senior/Principal Acoustic Consultant to join their Acoustics team in Ireland. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work on a diverse range of challenging projects across environmental, renewable energy, transportation, and infrastructure sectors. The position will be based in the firm's Dublin office, although consideration may be given to other locations.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide expert advice on acoustics across a range of sectors to clients, including scoping, resourcing, and delivering complex projects
  • Undertake and lead a wide range of acoustics projects, such as environmental acoustics, renewable energy acoustics, transportation acoustics, and occupational noise and vibration.
  • Mentor junior staff and provide line management as required.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's or postgraduate degree (preferably a Masters or PhD) in acoustics or relevant technical disciplines (e.g. Physics, Maths, or Engineering)
  • MIOA/FIOA membership
  • Chartered status or evidence of working towards this
  • Experience in environmental noise and vibration assessment of renewable energy and transportation projects, including a good understanding of noise and vibration related health impact assessment and ability to lead such projects.
  • Experience providing expert advice on all noise-related project requirements.
  • Ability to undertake environmental acoustic modelling using Predictor Noise Modelling Software and MATLAB, Labview and SvanPC++ (desirable)
  • Knowledge of relevant international and British Standards, including ISO 9613-2: 1996, Wind Energy Development Guidelines, Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government (2006), ETSU-R-97, The Assessment and Rating of Noise from Wind Farms (1996), A Good Practice Guide to the Application of ETSU-R-97 for the Assessment at Rating of Wind Turbine Noise (2013), and supplementary notes, BS 5228 Part 1:2009+A1:2014, BS 4142:2014+A1:2019, ISO 1996-1:2016, ISO 1996-2:2017, EPA Guidance Note for Noise: Licence Applications, Surveys and Assessments in Relation to Scheduled Activities (NG4), and CRTN – Calculation of Road Traffic Noise.
