Senior Environmental Scientist
Fehily Timoney and Company (FT) is one of Ireland’s largest indigenous consultancies specialising in Sustainable Infrastructure, Circular Economy, Environment, Energy and Renewables.
FT integrates engineering and scientific expertise to deliver balanced, environmentally sound solutions in the design and development of the built environment. Our environmental and ecology teams provide in-depth knowledge across a broad spectrum of scientific fields, including biodiversity, noise, hydrology, water quality, geology, hydrogeology, and environmental data management.
FT is seeking a Senior Environmental Scientist to join our Environmental Science team in our Cork, Dublin or Carlow office. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the growth of our environmental services and will collaborate closely with a team of experience professionals.
This position offers broad exposure across multiple areas within the environmental sector, including-though not limited to- planning and Environmental Impact Assessment Reports (EIARs), waste management, infrastructure development, waste licensing and permitting, industrial emissions licensing, and environmental due diligence.
What would my main responsibilities be in this role?
• Manage and coordination of Environmental Impact Assessments (EIAs), Strategic Environmental Assessments (SEAs), Appropriate Assessments (AAs), planning application documents and other environmental reports
• Offer expert technical guidance on environmental matters to support project teams and business operations
• Play an active role in developing and supporting business development activities
• Oversee and manage the process of securing necessary regulatory approvals
Am I the right person for the role?
• Degree qualified in a relevant environmental discipline
• At least 8 years of post-graduate experience in an environmental role
• Chartered status in relevant professional field
• Strong knowledge of planning, environmental and waste management legislation
• Proven experience preparing reports, planning submissions, and licence/permit applications across diverse projects
• Exceptional attention to detail
• Flexible, collaborative, and team-oriented approach
• Excellent technical writing and report reviewing skills
• Experience in engaging with external stakeholders, regulatory authorities and sub-contractors
• Full, clean driving licence
